When eleven-year-old Christopher is whisked away from his ordinary life into the mystical world of Centuria, he discovers that every person there shares a bond with a spirit animal.

His spirit companion, a loyal white wolf named Alabaster, becomes both protector and guide.

But Centuria is threatened by an ancient sea god, Cimmerian, who feeds on shattered spirit bonds, twisting children and their animals into monstrous soldiers for his dark army.

With new friends and their spirit animals by his side, Christopher must stop Cimmerian before their world—and the bonds that give them strength—are lost forever.

Along the way, Christopher learns that true bravery is not the absence of fear, but the choice to fight for love and friendship even when the odds seem impossible.

Milo is a thoughtful young ghost who notices everything - the way the sky turns violet at dusk, the way carnival lights shimmer above the floating market, the way Bram the ghost-dog leaves a trail of chaos everywhere he goes.

One morning, Bram is gone.

Following a trail of paw prints, a half-eaten lantern fruit, and the reluctant testimony of a dramatic market vendor named Cobble, Milo searches the Tumble Market, the Hanging Forest, and the luminous Sky-Waterfall until he finds Bram - soaking wet and completely overjoyed.

The mystery is solved. But what Milo discovers along the way is that the Elsewhere feels entirely different when someone you love goes missing, and entirely itself again when they come home.
